OHIO GHANAFEST is an Ohio-registered non-profit organization based in Columbus, Ohio USA.
OHIO GHANAFEST’s commitment is to create a sustainable festival event that will be a platform for Ghanaian artists and artistes to showcase their creations and have the opportunity to develop and grow in a progressive, productive, truly inclusive, and accessible arts and culture environment.
OHIO GHANAFEST invites and encourages artists, and other professionals to showcase their work and contribute to the ongoing conversation and action across the diaspora.
OHIO GHANAFEST will stand as a unique festival of multi-national flavor, named after Ghana but open to all (much in the same way its namesake country opens its doors to all, with its warm Akwaaba greetings of welcome and the proverbial Ghanaian hospitality); it will be a world-class festival that will enhance and expand economic activities, facilitate cultural education exchange between countries and people of different cultures, and promote cultural tourism in the Columbus, Ohio region.
This will be achieved through the meticulous planning and execution, not to mention the top-notch quality of selection, of the programming before, during and after each festival. Every aspect of the festival, every activity and every event that will be part of the festival – music, food, art exhibits, performances, entertainment, even the personalities who will be selected or invited to be participants – everything will be distinctly presented with the intention to offer the citizens of Ohio a truly unique cultural experience.
This OHIO GHANAFEST initiative is a story in motion that will be told continually through a variety of cultural expressions – foods, entertainment, exhibitions, artistic performances, seminars, etc., with the participation of – and on-going training as necessary for – all stakeholders.
